19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a challenging period, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former trainer Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since March of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an better serve.

He came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the concluding five points to take the lead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional title, took control to force a decider.

Moutet saved four early-game chances in a close deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
